The World Health Organization announced in a report, Wednesday, that the mutated strain of the Coronavirus that was discovered in India was detected, according to official and unofficial information, in 60 regions, indicating that the number of infections and deaths in the epidemic continues to decrease worldwide, with the exception of some countries.
Among these countries is Brazil, where the number of deaths from the Coronavirus exceeded 450,000, according to the latest toll published by the Ministry of Health in this country, which epidemiologists have warned of the possibility of a third wave of the virus spreading in it.
This comes as the battle between the European Union and AstraZeneca moves to the court on Wednesday for a hearing before a Belgian court devoted to the accusations against the laboratory of not delivering the quantities of anti-Covid vaccines on time to the 27 countries.

The World Health Organization said that the mutated version of the virus has demonstrated a greater ability to spread, but the severity of the disease it causes and the risk of infection are still being verified.
She added that she had received information from official sources about the spread of the B617.1 mutant, which was detected in India in 53 regions, and unofficial information about its presence in seven regions, bringing the total number to sixty.
Updated WHO figures provided information on the four mutations categorized as mutations of concern to the virus, those that were first reported in Britain (B1.1.7), South Africa (B1,351), Brazil (B1) and India (B1,617).
When calculating the total number of regions that reported each variable, the World Health Organization collected official and unofficial information it had.
The mutant B1.7 (Brazil) was detected in 149 regions, and the B1 mutant (Brazil) was detected in 59 regions.
As for the mutant that appeared in India, the organization decided to divide it into three strains, which are “B 1.617.1”, “B 1.617.2” and “B 1.617.3”.
The first injuries were detected in 41 regions, the second in 54 regions, and the third in six regions, namely Britain, Canada, Germany, India, Russia and the United States.
The total number of infections in the three strains was recorded in 53 regions, according to official A {, and in seven other regions, according to unofficial information.
The updated information included six important mutated types of the virus that are being monitored, the first of which was detected for the first time in several countries, while infections with two others were recorded in the United States and the other three were discovered in Brazil, the Philippines and France.
The report said, “The development of the virus is expected and the more SARS-Cove-2 spreads, the greater the chances of its development.”
“A comprehensive retreat but ..”
Globally, over the past week, the number of new infections and deaths continued to decrease. The organization said that about 1.4 million new cases and 84,000 deaths were reported, representing a decline of 14 percent and 2 percent, respectively, from the figures recorded in the previous week.
The largest decrease in injuries and deaths was recorded in the last seven days in the European region of the World Health Organization, followed by Southeast Asia.
The number of infections in the Americas, the Eastern Mediterranean, Africa and the Western Pacific region is similar to that reported in the previous week.
“Despite a comprehensive decline in the past four weeks, the number of cases and deaths from Covid-19 is still high, and a significant increase has been observed in some countries around the world,” the report said.
The largest number of new infections was recorded in the past seven days in India (one million and 846 thousand and 55, a decrease of 23 percent), Brazil (451 thousand and 424, an increase of 3 percent), Argentina (213 thousand and 46, an increase of 41 percent) and the United States (188 thousand and 410, a decrease of 20 percent) ) And Colombia (107,590 injuries, a decrease of seven percent).
The organization stressed that “reducing transmission through established and proven methods of disease control (…) are critical aspects of the global strategy to reduce the occurrence of mutations that have negative effects on public health.
