Putin congratulated chess player Karpov on his 70th birthday

President Vladimir Putin on Sunday, May 23, sent a congratulatory telegram to the chess player, State Duma deputy Anatoly Karpov on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

In his message, the head of state congratulated the athlete on his birthday, noting that he is one of the “outstanding representatives of the domestic and world chess elite” who managed to achieve great success and become the owner of the highest professional titles.

Putin wished Karpov good health, and also noted the professionalism of the chess player, which, in his words, is in demand “in significant public, law-making activities.”
