Mikhail Murashko spoke about the peculiarities of the course of covid

The Minister explained that the main way to save health and life today is vaccination against coronavirus

Coronavirus infection can pass from a mild form to a moderate form with lightning speed, the condition of some patients deteriorates sharply literally within a day. This was stated by the Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko in an interview with the TASS agency at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Recall that covid is considered lung when the temperature does not rise above 37.9 degrees, there is no damage to the lungs, and the oxygen level in the blood (saturation) is above 95%.

With a moderate form of the disease, a person suffers from severe fever – the temperature is usually above 38 degrees. Shortness of breath appears, the frequency of respiratory movements per minute is more than 22. Computed tomography shows lung damage (minimal or moderate, CT 1-2), saturation falls below 95%, and serum C-reactive protein rises above 10 mg / l (this is one of the indicators of inflammation in the body). Such criteria are described in the Interim Guidelines of the Ministry of Health on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19.

Today, there are some warning signs that can “predict” the weight of the covid. In particular, according to KP.ru, virologist, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Medical Sciences Alexander Lukashev , it is possible to predict the risk of a severe form of COVID-19 by certain indicators of a blood test. An important role is played by the ratio of immune cells of lymphocytes and neutrophils (their number is indicated in the general blood test).

  • Studies have shown the following pattern: if the number of neutrophils is divided by the number of lymphocytes and the figure is less than 3, then the covid almost always proceeds favorably. If the lymphocytes are greatly reduced and when dividing, a figure greater than 15 is obtained, this signals that the infected organism will follow the path of an incorrect immune response. This is the very situation when the strongest systemic inflammation develops, a cytokine storm, fraught with death.

And if the ratio of lymphocytes and neutrophils is more than 3, but less than 15? “The larger the ratio, the higher the risk of a severe course of the disease,” explained Professor Lukashev. “So, for example, if the ratio is higher than 8, most likely the patient will need intensive care and mechanical ventilation.”
