How Famous record holder dies during ultramarathon in China

One of the victims of the ultramarathon in China was the holder of two national records, Liang Jing. At first, the athlete was reported missing for a long time. The organizers thought that he had time to hide from the bad weather.

Nevertheless, on the morning of May 23, rescuers found the body of a 31-year-old man.

Previously, he has repeatedly won track and field races. In 2014 and 2018, Liang Jing set long distance records. The longest race was 151.2 km.

Half of the 21 people killed during the marathon are professional athletes.

The tragedy occurred due to the sharply deteriorated weather. Almost immediately after the start of the race, the weather deteriorated sharply: it got colder, a strong wind blew, heavy rain and hail began. Rescuers managed to evacuate 151 people. 21 athletes died.
