On Tuesday Connecticut governor passed an adult use policy for recreational use of marijuana in the USA. After this new law people are allowed to take marijuana for recreational use. Till now 19 states have legalized the recreational use of marihuana. Besides this, some states have only legalized marijuana for medical use.

There are altogether 545,000 arrests related to marijuana-related cases. Among them, most of the people are of black and Latino ethnicity. Similarly, after this law comes into formulation it will erase all marijuana-related convictions. This means it will release all the prisoners who went to jail for marijuana-related cases.

This law will come into formulation after July 1 and people who are above 21 years old can legally take marijuana for recreational use. Besides this, they are also allowed to store 1.5 ounces to 5 ounces of marijuana in their home. However, retail and dispensaries sales are expected to start from the year 2022.

As per the bill the state will create a special fund where they collect tax from marijuana sell. The state will use that money to invest in society, community projects, and to fund education programs. “This measure is extensive; protect our children and most vulnerable group in the society. Besides this, it will also be viewed as a national model for regulation marijuana and marijuana-related product. By signing into this law today we are helping our state to move beyond this terrible period”.

Tax revenue from Cannabis

The state will generate $784 million as tax revenue from the sales of marijuana-related products. The study was conducted by the University of Connecticut. According to this law, it will distribute half of the Marijuana license to low-income applicants. But, won’t allow residents to smoke marijuana on public properties including parks, state, and beaches. In addition to this, you are also not allowed to take Marijuana-related products on private properties unless you have permission from the owner.
